ROXAS City – What do you do if you receive a bomb threat?
Don’t panic and contact the police, according to Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion, Capiz police director.
Any who gets information on the alleged presence of a bomb must “immediately report to the police,” he said in a radio interview.
Panicking will not help, and the information must be treated as a means to avoid becoming a victim of explosion, said Nacion.
Police officers shall determine the validity of the threat and act on it, he said.
Vigilance is important in suppressing crimes, including deliberate explosions, said Nacion.
He also urged those behind bomb scares to stop. “You are only victimizing your relatives and friends,” he stressed.
Police and security agency personnel in Capiz will undergo a re-orientation on properly handling bomb scares, said Nacion.
The CapizPolice Provincial Office and the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division are patrolling and setting up checkpoints at vital installations, economic key points and areas of convergence to thwart lawless activities.
President Rodrigo Duterte declared a state of national emergency on account of lawless violence after a fatal bombing in Davao City.
The extraordinary presidential power prompts the armed forces to aid the police in internal security operations.
Nacion said the public are advised to cooperate at checkpoints. (PIA/PN)
