With a mandate of assisting the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) in ensuring and maintaining ethical standards in the conduct of health and health-related researches in the region, the REMB VI through the Committee on Information Dissemination, Training, and Advocacy (CIDTA) provides support and assistance to institutions in the region in terms of providing ethics trainings and advocacy campaigns.
In line with this, the CIDTA facilitated the training for the above-mentioned universities in preparation for their application for PHREB Level 2 Accreditation this year. Both research ethics committees (RECs) of CPU and USLS-Bacolod were recently accredited as new PHREB Level 1 REC in the region on Oct. 11, 2022, and Nov. 10, 2022, respectively.
Further, the training provided a comprehensive overview of ethical principles in research and to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure ethical practices in their research activities. It also emphasized the role of REC in providing guidance and oversight to ensure that research activities are conducted in a responsible and ethical manner. (DOST VI-KMU)/PN
