Reshuffling of police chiefs in Iloilo looms

ILOILO City – A revamp of police chiefs in Iloilo province is expected following the appointment of new Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director, Police Colonel Ronaldo Palomo.

The first police chief to be relieved will be Police Major Rolando Araño. He was appointed spokesperson of the IPPO.

However, Araño is still the chief of the Pavia police station while waiting for his replacement.

The new IPPO spokesperson said reshuffling is possible as some police chiefs were already overstaying at their posts while others were being requested by the local chief executives to be changed.

“Yes, may mga movements sa mga police chiefs kay ang iban overstaying na. As police chiefs, at least two years lang ang stay sa certain assignment. Then ang iban nga mayors naga-request sang ila gusto (new chief). As long as available lang ang mga officers kag qualified wala problema,” Araño said.

He added, “Natural lang ina sa amon kay officers come and go. The IPPO director will study the reshuffling and if may mga available we have to place hardworking police chiefs.”/PN
