ILOILO City – A retired member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) charged with homicide 42 years ago was finally arrested.
Now detained at the Mandurriao police station, the 65-year-old Wilfredo Mogate was apprehended in his house at No. 167 Bautista Street, Barangay Bayanan, Muntinlupa City around 7 p.m. on March 12.
The arrest warrant was issued by Judge Roger Patricio of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 38 here, according to Police Major Jonathan Pinuela, Mandurriao police chief.
Mogate was the No. 3 most wanted person in Iloilo City.
The homicide incident for which he was charged happened in La Paz district sometime in 1979.
“The case was filed against him in 1979 but the arrest warrant was issued only on May 17, 2006. We reviewed the names of wanted persons in our area until we received information that he was in Muntinlupa City,” Pinuela said.
No specific bail has been approved for his temporary liberty.
Mogate retired from the PNP organization 11 years ago.
