BACOLOD City – For illegal possession and selling of firearms, a retired police colonel was arrested in an entrapment operation on Rizal Street, Barangay 4, Hinigiran, Negros Occidental.

Demosthenes Fernandez, 58, was a resident of Barangay Villamonte here.

He was caught selling a firearm to an undercover police officer around 6 p.m. on June 29.

Several other firearms were recovered from him including revolvers, rifles (one M14 and one M16), more pistols, magazines, and ammunition, a police report showed.

Fernandez was detained at the Hinigaran police station.

He would be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
