BACOLOD City – Cash worth about P300,000 was stolen from a rice mill in Barangay Calumangan, Bago City, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.
The robbery happened around 1 a.m. on Tuesday. Officers at the Bago City police station were informed around 10:25 a.m. on the same day.
Drier operator Rodel Casidsid told the police that he was roaming around the compound of the Calumangan Rice Mill when two armed men approached and tied him up using a shoelace.
One of the men asked, “Pila kamo di?” added Casidsid.
The culprits then brought Casidsid to the guardhouse, waking up the security guard who the police did not identify.
The men, pointing their guns at the guard, said, “Gwa da karon malupok bagol mo.”
After taking his service firearm – a shotgun – the robbers also tied the guard up using an electrical wire.
The robbers gained entry to the rice mill’s office by destroying its window.
Police were still identifying and locating the suspects.
Woman dead after falling off tricycle
She did not survive after falling off a tricycle she was riding on Lacson-Ledesma Street in Barangay Poblacion 1, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.
The 67-year-old housewife Delilah Laus of Barangay 2, La Carlota City sustained injuries and was brought to the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City.
She was later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital where she was pronounced “dead on arrival.”
Laus was on board a tricycle that the 50-year-old Javlin Boko of Barangay La Granja, La Carlota City was driving around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday when the incident happened.

Farmer, carabao electrocuted
A farmer and his carabao died due to electrocution in Sitio Pacama, Barangay Magballo, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, police said.
The 33-year-old resident Ludovico Flores Jr. and the female carabao were plowing a sugarcane plantation in the village when they hit an electrical wire buried underground, the police added.
The incident happened around 1 p.m. on Tuesday. It was Flores’ wife Warlit who reported to the Kabankalan City police.
Flores was rushed to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City where attending physician Dr. June Cadigal pronounced him “dead on arrival.” (With Cyrus Garde/PN)
