BACOLOD City – Police recovered a rifle grenade and several other ammunition along the national highway in Purok 9 (Quinalumsan), Barangay Poblacion I, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
A resident found the items and reported to the police, said Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, officer-in-charge of the Sagay City police station.
Mansueto and his deputy, Senior Inspector Ellendie Rebusquillo, went to the area at around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday the found the following:
* a live rifle grenade
* nine pieces of 40mm live cartridges
* a black bandolier
* a pair of black slippers
These were placed next to a sugarcane field along the highway, said Mansueto.
It was not immediately clear who owned the ammunition.
Police took the items to their station for safekeeping./PN
