Right for the job

BY DENNIS FITZGERALD

DONALD Trump has taken some time to “work” at McDonald’s a bit later in life than when Kamala Harris did.

He could look for a permanent job there if his present job application fails in November, as he is handy with the salt shaker and would have an expert knowledge of the menu.

There are even a few of their characters whose role he could fill, perhaps Hamburglar as he tried to steal an election in 2020, or Grimace who is portrayed as a well-meaning simpleton, or even Ronald McDonald, a clown in yellow.

Sometimes there are better ways of getting publicity when you are out there begging for votes.

Up and away

Axiom Space and Prada have shown us a new spacesuit to be used on the moon. It’s a nice looking traditional white suit although I am sure other colors will be available upon request.

The Axiom Space website describes it as “A Spacesuit for Everyone” but I wonder if this includes one for an old, overweight, bald man with a sore hip.

The other possible problem is the cost which seems to be anywhere between $1 million to $4 million although it is hard to be precise as there are none for sale on Ebay at the moment.

My solution will be to buy one off some online site that offers fake products. If they can make fairly accurate copies of Prada bags, a Spacesuit should be easy. Hopefully it will be airtight.

In fact, it might be best to concentrate on the problems on Earth before we try to get off the planet. By the time we do that Prada will already have a shop on the moon.

Thirsty for peace?

Art is part of our world and has been since time immemorial, with the 20,000 year old Lascaux cave paintings and the Indigenous Art in Australia. It is something that is part of our souls, it is not something to be destroyed in protest.

The works of art, great and small, must be protected but allowing only baby formula, expressed milk and prescription medicine, as the National Gallery in London seems an odd shield against protesters.

A better approach would be to work on the causes of the dissatisfaction but how can this be done under attack. Maybe this is just a metaphor for so many problems in our world as so clearly shown in the middle east.

Listening and talking are easy but destruction is more common. We need to change our approaches.

Protect the children

The Los Angeles Archdiocese has agreed to pay $880 million in response to sexual abuse claims.

For a group of religious practitioners it appears they didn’t read their Bibles where Matthew 18:2-6 states ,”If anyone causes one of these little ones — those who believe in me — to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

How can people who are devoted to doing right, including protecting children from harm, do what they did? They can’t. These are evil people wearing the costume and speaking the words but with blackened souls.

The $800 million will be felt but the real punishment will come when they get to the pearly gates and find they are heading downstairs because of their behavior. Their time on earth should be spent in jail as a response to their behavior and to prevent them doing anything more.

There are so many clergy who do so much good but there are a few that let the team down./PN
