BORACAY – The Regional Maritime Unit 6 (RMU-6) has stepped up their security in this island to secure local and international tourists spending their summer vacation.

RMU-6 regional director, Supt. John Mitchell Jamili said his personnel had been deployed since the start of summer.

“We expect more people to spend their summer vacation in Boracay, especially celebrities and foreigners. So we need to intensify our personnel to augment the local police in the area,” Jamili said.

Jamili said there is a Police Fast Boat 214 (PFB-214) being stationed in Boracay to conduct daily seaborne security patrol.

Recently, the Police Regional Office 6 sent 75 additional personnel to Boracay.

On the other hand, the RMU-6 has arrested 416 illegal fishers in four months and seized 51 fishing boats used in illegal fishing.

Jamili vowed to focus their operation against illegal fishers in Northern Iloilo./PN
