ILOILO City – Major roads around Jaro Plaza will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, January 18, to accommodate the grand opening parade of the Jaro district fiesta this February 2. The closure begins at 2 p.m.
Under Sangguniang Panlungsod Regulation Ordinance No. 2025-004, the following streets will be affected from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.: E. Lopez Street (fronting Robinsons Place Jaro), Libertad Street, Fajardo Street, Lopez Jaena Street, Commission Civil Street, Del Carmen Street, and back to E. Lopez Street.
The parade is organized by the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) of Jaro district and will feature participants from various government and non-government organizations.
Every Jaro fiesta, thousands of devotees converge at the Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral to pay homage to Nuestra Señora dela Candelaria (Our Lady of Candles).
To manage traffic flow during the grand opening parade, re-routing schemes will be implemented for affected public utility jeepneys.
Jaro CPU/UNGKA ITGSI/Pavia-La Paz PUJs
* To City Proper – From Lopez Jaena, turn right to Sto. Domingo/Arguelles, right to Arguelles Extension, left to Cuartero, right to EL 98, left to Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue, U-turn at Plazuela 2, proceed to the service road towards Jalandoni Street, right to Magsaysay Road, then E. Lopez Street.
* Returning to Origin – From E. Lopez, turn right to Javellana, left to MH Del Pilar, towards Benedicto, right to Washington, left to Democracia, and proceed to Sto. Domingo/Lopez Jaena.
Jaro Liko NFA/Tagbak/Leganes-La Paz PUJs
* To City Proper – From McArthur Drive, pass Simon Ledesma, right to Ma. Cristina, left to Sto. Domingo, towards Arguelles Extension, left to Cuartero, right to EL 98, left to Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue, U-turn at Plazuela 2, and proceed to service road towards Jalandoni Street.
* Returning to Origin – Via Commission Civil, right to Javellana, left to MH Del Pilar, towards Benedicto and Washington, and back to McArthur Drive.
Leganes Highway PUJs
* To City Proper – From McArthur Drive, take Quintin Salas Road, left to C1 Road, Ungka, and Benigno Aquino Avenue.
* Returning to Origin – Reverse route via C1 Road, Quintin Salas, and McArthur Drive.
Mandurriao PUJs (via Jaro)
* To Jaro Big Market – From Q. Abeto Street, pass Spur Road, right to Benigno Aquino Avenue, u-turn at Jiga, proceed to service road via Dungon A Road, and right to Cuartero and EL 98 Streets.
* Returning to Origin – Follow the normal route back.
Truck Restrictions
The following trucks are prohibited from entering parade routes during the event:
* trucks from La Paz Plaza area heading to Commission Civil
* trucks from McArthur Drive heading to Jaro
* trucks from Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue heading to Jalandoni Street
