ILOILO City – A counterflowing motorcycle slammed against a passenger jeepney on the Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue (popularly called Diversion Road) near a flyover in Mandurriao district early morning yesterday.
The motorcycle driver and back rider sustained severe body and head injuries, according to Police Master Sergeant Karl Petalco, Traffic Enforcement Unit investigator of the Mandurriao police station.
The back rider was declared “dead on arrival” at the West Visayas State University Medical Center while the motorcycle driver expired a few minutes after.
Both were residents of San Miguel, Iloilo. Their families pleaded to the media to hide their identities.
According to the jeepney driver Claudio Superales Jr. of Santa Barbara, Iloilo, when he saw the speeding motorcycle counterflowing towards his direction he immediately stepped on the break. But it was too late./PN
