ROXAS City – Reported road accidents in this component city of Capiz province declined in 2023.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Paguia, chief of the Roxas Component City Police Station, records show that there were 330 reported traffic accidents in 2023.
This is less than the 360 incidents reported in 2022.
Despite the decrease, the death rate in 2023 was higher, with 15 fatalities compared to 10 in 2022.
Paguia, however, noted that these statistics do not include late-reported or settled accidents.
The city police chief assured an increase in police visibility and checkpoints for prompt response.
He also reminds motorists to be responsible drivers, exercise caution, and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol to prevent road accidents./PN
