BACOLOD City – The construction of a 3.75-kilometer access road to the famous Binadlan Falls in Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental is ongoing.

It started in July and is expected to be completed May next year, according to Negros Occidental2nd District Engineer Randolfo Melosantos.

The road project costs around P100 million – with P79.995 million sourced from the 2nd District’s 2018 Infrastructure Program Fund.

In 2019, the project – being implemented by the Tourism department – will have an additional P50-million budget.

When finished, the road is seen to improve access to the highland barangays of Binalbagan.

“Better roads would mean better accessibility resulting to more visitors,” Mayor Emmanuel Aranda said.

Binadlan Falls, also known as Bambi Falls, is located about 13 kilometers from Barangay Bi-ao proper. It is situated in Barangay Santol but can be accessed only through Barangay Bi-ao.

The 100-foot tall waterfall attracts not only local but also foreign trekkers.

“Bambi Falls is really the future of Sitio Binadlan. So we will continue to promote the destination,” Aranda said.

He added that the municipal government will build comfort rooms and cottages in the area.

The municipal government collects P20 entrance fee per person in the waterfall area. But the amount might increase this September.

The revenues will be used to help indigenous peoples and members of Bantay Bukid watching over the area, the mayor said. (With a report from PNA/PN)
