ILOILO City – Some 600 houses will be demolished once the proposed road widening from Barangay Boulevard, Molo district up to the boundaries of Arevalo district and the town of Oton, Iloilo pushes through.
According to the city government’s Task Force on Anti-Squatting and Illegal Structures (TF ASIS) head Engr. Roberto Dumanil, the road-widening project of some seven kilometers will be undertaken by Department of Public Works and Highways.
“There’s an ongoing reevaluation of the houses. Three years ago na-survey na namon. Sa sulat sang DPWH masugod na ang proyekto sa 2019,” said Dumanil.
The road will be widened on both sides seven meters.
Dumanil said TS ASIS is coordinating with the Iloilo City Urban Affairs Office for the relocation of affected families.
The road widening aims to lessen traffic congestion in the area./PN
