BACOLOD City – Several roads will be closed as the city celebrates the three-week long MassKara Festival.

The streets of Luzuriaga, Araneta and Burgos-San Juan are closed from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. from Oct. 1 to 22, said Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, head of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO).

Motorists from the south, upon reaching corner Luzuriaga-Araneta streets, are advised to take a left turn going to San Juan Street.

The same direction must be followed by public utility jeepneys plying Punta Taytay-Central Market and Sum-ag-Central Market routes, said BTAO.

Vehicles from the north, upon reaching corner Burgos-San Juan streets, may pass through the Padre Ferrero or Palanca roads going to corner San Juan-Luzuriaga streets.

They must take a right turn to Araneta Street and left turn to Rosario Street going to Libertad area afterward.

Vehicles going north may use Lacson and Locsin streets.

But Acebuche is encouraging motorists to use Lacson Street to prevent traffic congestion on Locsin.

Acebuche also urged the public to follow traffic rules.

Lacson Street will be fully closed starting Oct. 14 to pave way for kiosks and other activities in the Tourism Strip, said Acebuche.

From Oct. 14 to 22, a one-way traffic scheme going to the downtown area will be observed on Gatuslao Street./PN
