BACOLOD City – A suspected robber was arrested by Police Station 1 officers but not before bystanders mobbed him.
The 24-year-old Reggie Valeriano of Barangay 6 was accused of robbing the bag containing valuables and cash of the 34-year-old teacher Rubie Lyn Barientos of Barangay Mandalagan.
Valeriano was charged with robbery after the incident on March 24.
Bariento told Police Station 1 Valeriano pointed a bladed weapon at her and told her “Dal-a di bag mo (Give me your bag).” The suspect grabbed the bag and fled toward the public plaza.
Inside the bag were a netbook worth P18,000, a cell phone worth P15,000 and a wallet with P1,500 cash.
Police officers ran after Valeriano and arrested him. A 9-inch bladed weapon was also seized from the suspect, who sustained injuries after the mobbing.
Barientos teaches at Abkasa Elementary School in Barangay Mandalagan, Police Station 1 commander Senior Inspector Eugene Tolentino confirmed./PN
