Ebreo: BCPO leading the drug war in WV, too
BACOLOD City â Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), belied Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaranâs statement that robbery incidents are once again becoming rampant in the city.
Familiaranâs comment came after security personnel from the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) were pulled out from the city.
The RPSB personnel were deployed to Iloilo City to guard the recently concluded Dinagyang Festival.
The RPSB personnel are the same augmentation forces that helped solve the robbery problem in the city in October last year during the MassKara Festival.
According to Familiaran, the RPSB personnel have been a âbig helpâ in BCPOâs crime prevention initiatives, especially during nighttime.
When they were pulled out from the city, Familiaran said he observed that holdup incidents, mostly perpetrated by riding-in-tandem suspects, once again became widespread.
Yesterday, the BCPO showed media members its records of robbery incidents in the city covering the period January to Feb. 7.
The records showed that there is a 31.58-percent decline in the number of robberies in the city, from 19 incidents in the period last year to 13 incidents this year.
BCPOâs Crime Clearance Efficiency improved 24.70 percent, from 36.84 percent in the same period last year to 61.54percent this year, the records further showed.
BCPOâs Crime Solution Efficiency also rose 9.31 percent, from 36.84percentin the same period last year to this yearâs 46.15percent, they added.
On the other hand, Ebreo stressed yesterday that the BCPO is leading the antidrug campaign in Western Visayas.
Police Regional Office 6 spokesman Superintendent Gilbert Gorero earlier said in a statement that âBacolod City and Negros Occidental appeared to have more drug personalities than Iloilo.â
From Dec. 5, 2017 to Jan. 28, 2018, the BCPO arrested 109 drug personalities in its 59 operations, Ebreo said.
Ebreo added that from Feb. 1 to 7 this year, they have arrested 16 drug personalities in seven operations.
BCPO officers have visited 63 new households and revisited 100 households since Jan. 29 when Philippine National Police launched âOplan Tokhang Reboot.â
A total of 32 street level drug targets turned themselves in to the BCPO. Another 41 newly identified drug personalities also surrendered.
For his part, Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said âHindi naman siguro final na sabihin na worse ang droga sa Negros Occidental compared to Iloilo.â
Between Dec. 5, 2017 and Feb. 5, 2018, 62 drug personalities surrendered to Nocppo, Gorero said.
In the same period, a total of 93 drug suspects were arrested in Negros Occidental, Gorero added.
According to Castil, Nocppo has been intensifying its antidrug campaign./PN
