BACOLOD City — Robbery suspects who victimized a businessman in Kabankalan City on Monday already have pending arrest warrants, said Supt. Salvador Dagoon, Kabankalan police chief.
They were the same ones who waylaid and robbed a fish trader on July 28, Dagoon said.
The suspects held up and shot to death Ronnie Quillano, a peanut trader, in the hinterland barangay of Bantayan in Kabankalan.
Quillano, 58, of Barangay Manduwawaw, Bayawan, Negros Oriental, sustained gunshot wounds inflicted by an unknown caliber.
He was on his way home onboard a motorcycle, or habal-habal, driven by a relative when one of the suspects, also onboard a motorcycle, told them to stop.
Two more suspects emerged from a sugarcane field and declared holdup.
They told the driver to “drop.” Quillano fought back. The driver then fled toward the sugarcane field when he heard gunshots.
Quillano was divested of his money, which remained undetermined until now, Dagoon said.
Two weeks ago, the suspects also robbed Danilo Liza, 32, of Cauayan town in Sitio Maba-og of the same barangay in Kabankalan.
Liza was on his way home onboard a motorcycle when the suspects waylaid him. They took his collection worth P5,000 but did not hurt him.
Dagoon said they were having difficulty catching robbery suspects due to the absence of Community Police Assistance Centers in hinterland barangays./PN
