Robbery leads to Passi City teacher’s death?

ILOILO City – Police were searching for a suspect in the death of an elementary school teacher in Barangay Gemumua-agahon in the component city of Passi in Iloilo province.

The 34-year-old villager June Aguilar remained at large as of this writing, said Superintendent Arturo Fullero, Passi police chief.

Police used witness accounts and pieces of evidence found in a nipa hut he owned to tag Aguilar to the crime.

According to the Passi police chief, Aguilar was detained for a murder change but has been out on parole.

Fullero identified the victim as Ma. Corazon Tionson, a a 55-year-old Grade III teacher at the Gemumua-agahon Elementary School.

Her house help found her body in her house at around 10 a.m. Monday.

Tionson had two stab wounds on the body and a wound on the head believed inflicted using a hard object, said Fullero.

Aguilar could be out to rob Tionson, the police official said, citing investigation.

Investigators found the house in disarray and learned that the slain teacher’s loan application has recently been approved.

Someone saw Aguilar with a bloodstain on his T-shirt, said Fullero.

Police later found a bloodstained T-shirt, a bloodstained hammer, and a necklace of the victim in the suspect’s nipa hut, he said.
