MANILA – Vice President Leni Robredo assured President Rodrigo Duterte she won’t divulge sensitive information on the government’s anti-drug campaign with foreign entities.
“Naiintindihan ko naman kung ano ‘yong mga hindi pwedeng sabihin sa media; kung sensitive, hindi ‘yon pwede,” Robredo said in her weekly radio program, adding she knows the difference between promoting transparency in the drug war and the need to keep the confidential data private.
“Magiging transparent as possible sa mga nangyayari pero hindi natin ida-divulge ‘yong mga sensitive information,” Robre added.
President Duterte earlier threatened to remove the vice president as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) should she leak state secrets
Duterte said there are matters that should be kept within the government.
“Classified matters cannot be shared. Once [she does] that, she’s out, I would fire her. Because you jeopardized the security of the state,” he said in an interview with GMA News’ Balitanghali.
Robredo met with officials of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the United States Embassy to discuss the country’s anti-illegal drug campaign.
Her ICAD appointment came after she barnded the administration’s drug war as “obviously not working.”
After accepting Duterte’s offer, the Vice President has vowed to change the direction of the campaign by implementing a health-based approach and ending extrajudicial killings related to the drive./PN
