MANILA – The exchange of harsh words between President Rodrigo Duterte and Sen. Leila de Lima is far from being over.
Speaking at the Police Regional Office 12 of the Philippine National Police in General Santos City on Friday, Duterte said he does not want to engage with de Lima because she is “panget.”
“(She) kept on hammering on me, due process, extrajudicial killing, and I was the one of the few mayors na nana-national,” the President said. “I was [her] favorite whipping boy on human rights.”
The former Davao City mayor called out the lady senator, who was then chief of the Commission on Human Rights, for investigating him on his alleged involvement with the Davao Death Squad.
“Binibira niya ako. Hindi naman nag-file ng kaso… There is a problem, lahat kasi ng namatay, pati ‘yung nasagasaan, kukunan ng picture, padala ni (former House Speaker Prospero) Nograles (Jr.) doon kay De Lima,” Duterte said./PN
