MANILA – The communications team of President Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte has birthday wishes for their boss who turns 72-years old today, Tuesday.
Presidential Communications Office secretary Martin Andanar said he wishes Duterte to have “more time for himself and the small things in life that make him happy.”
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said that Duterte will celebrate his birthday “quietly without fanfare” with family and close friends in his home city of Davao.
“While certain offices may hold parallel celebrations, the President usually veers away public attention on his private and personal affairs,” Abella said.
The spokesman hoped that “[Duterte’s] dream for a great Filipino nation all come true.”
Last week, Duterte said that his birthday wish is to have “a little bit of time” and “a little strength” to serve the country.
“Nakuha ko na lahat. No more gifts to – except maybe a prayer to God for my country. I have reached the apex of my career, material things which I cannot and will no longer be of use to me,” he said during his arrival from official visits to Myanmar and Thailand.
The long-time mayor of Davao City said he will also ask God to make “people understand what I’m doing.”/PN
