CONSIDERING all the romantic flicks I’ve watched over the years, I have been inspired at one point or another to attempt at writing a romantic story! Indeed!
Why not? For every individual has a romantic bone in his body whether it be hidden, revisited, or newly-discovered.
This story belongs to a recent past, colorful, full of promise. But just like everything that’s full of promise, it also fizzles out.
But let’s not get ahead of our story.
The man is considerably younger, insecure, a flirt but trying to mask his flirtatious streak with a supposed aura of seriousness.
It must have worked for him for a while. After all, he was in his mid-30s then. He had practiced the art, so to speak.
The lady is eloquent, beautiful as he claims, attractive, and svelte. However, definitely older.
It seemed the age difference didn’t matter to him when he started to court her but when the relationship was about to begin, his cares about how the world will perceive him suddenly surfaced.
I wonder. What could have attracted him enough to court her and then freezes at the thought of how society will pass judgment on him? Isn’t that a pity?
I guess only he can answer that. (To be continued)

2022 is finally here!
The past two years were challenging, even hellish for some of our friends and family members. And yet, life continues.
On top of that, elections are forthcoming and on a daily basis, we see a barrage of subtle and hard sell political posts by candidates desiring to woe their voters.
It’s funny how we reduce ourselves into cartoon characters just to get noticed, haha! Sometimes it’s fun, other times it’s purely gimmick.
But like they say, political gimmicks characterize our politics in these parts. So, let’s just dance to the tune.

The good news is: Vaccines work!
I’m fully vaccinated but I first developed mild symptoms on Jan. 2nd. By Jan. 3rd, I underwent Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) where my test result turned out positive.
By evening of Jan. 3, I was confined.
On Jan. 4 afternoon, I had my first-ever RT-PCR test at V. Luna Medical Center. By the next day, my test result turned out positive as well.
I’m still confined in isolation and well-taken care of.
I’m off my antibiotics as of Jan. 9. My case is mild.
I’ll discharge on January 13. By then, I would have completed my 10-day quarantine period for vaccinated individuals.
I’m posting this because I want to urge everyone to vaccinate and obtain your booster shot.
Keep safe everyone.
IMPORTANT
* For fully vaccinated individuals who test positive with mild to moderate symptoms, isolation period is 10 days.
* For severe cases, 21-day isolation period is required.
* For mild unvaccinated individuals, 14 days.
Special thanks to Dr. Maan Delos Santos-Sales for taking good care of me at the Manila Naval Hospital.
Thank you also to Dr. Froilan de Castro and Dr. Naat Montemayor for being available when I needed them.
Above all, thank you to my prayer warriors and to the GOD of all comfort for the healing process.

I can’t end this article without mentioning the brave ladies I share the quarantine facility with for 10 days at the Manila Naval Station pedia ward turned isolation ward: pretty Mum Julie Ann Gabotero with lovely eight-year-old daughter Margaux Gabotero; Fatima M. Regacho of the Medical Services, Philippine Marines; Evelyn DP Premne of the Philippine Navy; and Juliette Tamayo, a civilian like me.
Way to go, ladies! We have hurdled the challenge!
I hope we can keep in touch.
