ROXAS City – The Lupong Tagapamayapa of Barangay Lawaan here recently underwent validation for the 2023 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA).
This marks the third consecutive year that Barangay Lawaan, under the leadership of Lupon Chair and Punong Barangay Jocelyn Asis, has represented Region 6 in the component city category of the annual LTIA awards.
The LTIA, administered by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), provides economic benefits and other incentives to Lupons that demonstrate exemplary performance in settling disputes at the barangay level.
A team of national validators, led by Undersecretary Irene de Torres Alogoc from the Department of Justice – Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution, conducted the validation process.
“Kita nagadayaw gid sa maayo nga performance sang Lupong Tagapamayapa sang Lawaan sa insakto nga pagpatuman sang Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) kag peacekeeping efforts. Handum ko nga makuha liwat sang Lawaan ang kadalag-an subong nga 2023,” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, who welcomed the national validators, along with DILG-6 Director Juan Jovian E. Ingeniero.
In the updated criteria and guidelines for the 2023 LTIA, the Lupon is required to undergo barangay-organized skill training, seminars, and exchange visits to further enhance their knowledge and skills in KP.
A minimum of 10 cases must be filed before the Lupon, and these cases should be resolved through mediation, conciliation, and arbitration within specific timeframes.
Among the other amendments to the criteria is the systematic maintenance of records, which now necessitates the establishment of a computer database with searchable case information for cities, along with manual and digital record filing for municipalities. (With a report from Inquirer.net)/PN
