ROXAS City – The city government called for an emergency meeting yesterday through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC).
Super Typhoon “Mawar” is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility between Friday evening, May 26, and Saturday morning, May 27.
Although the typhoon’s trajectory is Northern Luzon and is less likely to affect Western Visayas, the region could still experience heavy rains brought by the southwesterly windflow and these may cause flooding and landslides.
Vice Mayor Theresa Almalbis who led the emergency meeting discussed preparations for emergency response.
The CDRRMO is also on alert 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to monitor the weather’s development, as are the City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Health Office, City Engineers Office and other frontline service providers.
The city government is prepared to augment family food packs.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas enjoined residents to follow the directives of city and barangay authorities, especially when pre-emptive evacuation is necessary./PN
