ILOILO City – An 11-year-old girl has accused her 38-year-old uncle of rape in Roxas City.
She told the police she was sexually abused four times at her grandmother’s house last month.
The girl was living with her grandmother; her mother was working in Metro Manila.
The rape took place at the second floor of the house, she told the police, and she was warned not to tell anybody about it or she would be harmed.
The suspect was a tricycle driver. The girl said he gave her P20.
But she told her grandmother anyway and both immediately reported the matter to the police last week.
According to Police Senior Master Sergeant Rose Olaveja of the Roxas City police station’s Women and Children Protection Desk, the girl underwent medical examination and the result confirmed the rape.
The suspect, upon learning that the girl had complained to the police, disappeared from Roxas City.
Nevertheless, said Olaveja, four counts of rape charges were filed against him./PN
