ROXAS City – The city government plans to use a mobile application for a more efficient and effective coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) contact tracing.

The application is called DIRECTS or Digitized Roxas City Epidemiological Contact Tracing System.

“The Roxas City ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Team presented to me a technological innovation that may augment and strengthen our COVID-19 contact tracing data management system,” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.

How does DIRECTS work?

Upon registration, the DIRECTS app would be generating a unique QR code for the registrant.

Information supplied by the registrant and the generated QR code would be made into an identification card.

This QR code/ID should be presented for scanning every time the registrant enters commercial establishments, government and private offices, educational institutions, etc.

Dadivas said the application is an added layer of public protection in terms of faster contact tracing of persons who may have been exposed to confirmed COVID-19 cases./PN
