ROXAS City – The city government proposed to construct an upgraded slaughterhouse.
The plan was presented during a “virtual project call” of the Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) – Project Support Office Visayas Cluster on Dec. 10.
The city’s current slaughterhouse located in Barangay Dingginan is a category A abattoir.
The proposed upgraded slaughterhouse is hoped to secure an AA rating from the National Meat Inspection Service, said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.
An A classification means meat from the slaughterhouse can be transported within the city only while an AA classification means the meat from it can be transported outside the city.
An AAA classification, on the other hand, means the meat from the slaughterhouse is safe enough to be shipped abroad./PN
