ROXAS City – The distribution of rice subsidy for residents here amid the coronavirus pandemic continues and is now on its second tranche.
The city government launched “Bugas Para sa Taga-Roxas Food Security Program” on April 15 this year simultaneous with the city’s commemoration of President Manuel A. Roxas Day.
Each family gets 10 kilos of rice monthly until December this year.
According to Melvin Galagate, Roxas City Communications Group head and public information officer, the second tranche targeting 42,000 families started last week.
A 10-kilo sack of rice costs P250.
For the two tranches of rice distribution, the city government is spending P60 million.
“We will have four more tranches until December,” said Galagante.
Since April 2020 until March this year, the city government had three waves of distribution benefiting 32,000 families in the city at 25 kilos each.
A 25-kilo sack of rice was worth P625.
