ROXAS City – The Roxas City Government under the leadership of Mayor Ronnie Dadivas is aiming to get the Seal of Good Local Governance award from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) this year.
On Tuesday, June 11, the Regional Assessment Team (RAT) of the DILG Region 7 was in the city to conduct an evaluation.
Among the evaluators were RAT Leader and Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) – VII Susan Balsamo and Civil Society Organization representative Jeezaleyn Khey Fuentes. Also joining them were DILG-Capiz director Cheryl Tacda and LGOO – V Rozel Langurayan.
The RAT conducted assessment and onsite validation on these governance areas: Disaster Preparedness, Financial Administration, Health Compliance and Responsiveness, Social Protection and Sensitivity, Sustainable Education, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Tourism Heritage Development and Culture, Youth Development, and Safety, Peace and Order.
“Kita sa city government nagatinguha gid nga mapaayo ang aton serbisyo sa aton kasimanwa. Gina-welcome naton ang ano man nga rekomendasyon nga ila ihatag sa aton para mapaayo pa gid ang aton mga programa kag serbisyo,” Mayor Dadivas said.
He added that his office and all department heads are working hand in hand for a more effective implementation of the different programs and projects.
The SGLG, as an institutionalized award, incentive, honor, and recognition-based program, continues to uphold its commitment in bringing about inclusive and people-oriented reforms that will enable the local government units (LGUs) to foster culture of good governance amid the challenges in the local government landscape.
Last year, performance measures were further upgraded to also gauge outcome-oriented efforts of the LGUs.
“As the seal maintains its progressive nature, its response to various concerns in local administration and service delivery remains to be anchored on its thrust of giving distinction and incentivizing good performance,” read part of the DILG Memorandum Circular 2023-086.
It added: “With the setting in of the new administration and the adoption of the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028, the seal also anticipates and seeks to influence potential actions of LGUs in response to these changes through direction-setting and strengthened performance information, as we all look forward to a more prosperous, inclusive, and resilient society – all through tapat at mahusay na pamahalaang lokal./PN
