ROXAS City – A city government contractual employee was one of the three latest deaths here due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The employee was a 61-year-old male from Barangay Lawa-an, according to the City Health Office.
He was one of the three new COVID-19 deaths logged on Aug. 1, bringing this city’s the total death toll due to the disease to 116.
The two other new deaths were a 71-year-old female from Barangay Tiza and a 78-year-old female from Barangay Libas.
“Ginapaabot ko ang pagpakigbuylog sa kasubo subong nga ginabatyag sang ila tagsa ka pamilya,” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.
Also, on Aug. 1, the city logged 36 additional confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the active cases to 247.
Most of these additional cases were close contacts of previous cases.
Since its first COVID-19 case last year, Roxas City has recorded 2,694 total confirmed cases./PN
