ROXAS City – The city government is imposing additional protocols on inbound travelers and adopting more measures to contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In Executive Order No. 10-A of Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, inbound travelers from Romblon, Masbate and other island provinces who have not undergone reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test should be subjected to such here but at their own expense.
They should also undergo medical screening for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 upon arrival and undergo voluntary quarantine while waiting for their RT-PCR test results.
“If they refuse to undergo the RT-PCR swab test, they will be asked to return to their point of origin,” Dadivas said.
Roxas City residents working or frequently travelling to other provinces are enjoined to register at their barangay of residence for monitoring purposes.
Meanwhile, establishments with employees commuting to their residences outside Capiz shall maintain a registry and submit them to the City Health Office for monitoring.
All beaches and restaurants here are allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity only, however, swimming in public places is strictly prohibited.
As of April 12, active cases of COVID-19 here reached 35.
Dadivas also banned basketball games. To make sure this is implemented, all barangays were enjoined to cover with sacks all basketball rings in their areas.
Other activities prohibited were karaoke and band singing in commercial establishments as well as parties and celebrations in public places.
For weddings and funerals, only 15 and 10 persons, respectively, are allowed to attend.
Meantime, the wake/vigil for the dead shall only be allowed for a maximum of five days except for COVID-19 cases which require immediate burial.
The city mayor also discouraged leisure outside of the province of Capiz.
All passenger vehicles shall be limited to 50 percent seating capacity.
The 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew shall also be strictly implemented.
On top of these, Dadivas made compulsory the wearing of facemask and face shield in markets, transport terminals and other public places.
Restaurants are prohibited from having buffets.
Also among others, only hotels or accommodation establishments accredited with the Department of Tourism shall be allowed to accommodate guests and clients.
Work in government offices may operate at full capacity or under alternative work arrangements.
Dadivas also encouraged the public to report violations to the city government through the Roxas City COVID-19 Task Force Command Center hotline numbers 09158532669 and 09194580142./PN
