ROXAS CITY — The rehabilitation of the Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center (TATC) or the Roxas City public market is now taking shape.
On Monday, after barely a year, the local government unit here inaugurated its newly renovated fish section inside the public market.
To note, the rehabilitation of the 40-year old TATC is eyed to be done in phases and it started with the rehabilitation of the Fish Section.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, who led the inauguration together with other local and provincial officials including Vice Governor Mitang Magbanua, said the whole fish section is now organized and clean. It has comfortable rooms and a sewerage system.
“Panugod pa lamang ini sang Redevelopment Program naton sa TATC madamo pa kita sang nakalinyada nga proyekto agud mapabugal man naton ang aton merkado. Ginapasalamatan ko ang tanan nga nagtrabaho agud matuman ini nga handum halin sa tagdumalahan sang merkado sa pagpanguna ni Ms. Heloise Mendoza, City Engineers Office kag iban pa nga nagasuporta sini,” Dadivas posted on his official Facebook account.
Dadivas appealed to the fish vendors to take good care of their space.
The city government particularly wanted to transform the whole market into a two-story mall market that is clean and environment-friendly.
Funds for the project will be taken from the city’s reserved funds and economic enterprise income.
It will further get an additional allocation from the city’s 20 percent Development Fund./PN
