ROXAS, Capiz – Two mobile public markets were put up by the Roxas City government in partnership with the Capiz Chamber of Commerce and Industry and private sector to decongest marketgoers at the Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center here.

These mobile public markets are located at the People’s Park in Brgy. Baybay and Pueblo de Panay entrance in Brgy. Lawaan in the city.

Various products being sold at TATC are also available at the newly established marketplace at almost the same price.

“This will hasten the marketing tasks of the residents while at the same time prevent the spread of COVID-19,” said Roxas City mayor Ronnie Dadivas in his social media page.

The food security initiative is complimented by the local government unit’s 25-kilogram rice distribution to the poorest of the poor household beneficiaries at the 47 barangays in the city.

About 30,000 indigent homes will be given 25 kilograms of rice in the ongoing relief operation which followed the immediate assistance thru food packs, with sanitation and hygiene items in some cases, earlier provided by the barangay councils to their residents.

Aside from the government subsidy, various socio-civic and religious groups, businessmen and individuals, among others, have also helped in compassion to COVID-19-affected poor families.

Dadivas, in a recent local radio interview, also noted that a big portion of the P54-million Bayanihan Grant will go to food assistance and other relief goods “because we do not know until when this health emergency  will end.” (PIA-Capiz)
