ROXAS City – The Roxas City government in the province of Capiz was cited by the international community for its coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) response efforts.
The Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) recognized Roxas City as a smart city while city mayor Ronnie Dadivas was invited to speak at the CALD Smart Cities Webinar on Friday.
“Our collective efforts, the sacrifices of our frontliners, the cooperation of our people and the hard work of the men and women of the Roxas City government have again caught the eye of the international community,” Dadivas said.
The webinar dubbed as “Reimagining Smart Cities: Current Challenges and New Opportunities” was viewed through https://www.facebook.com/asianliberals/posts/3564998616880392.
For Dadivas, it was a privilege for him to represent Roxas City in the said event where he shared the city’s experiences, what they have worked on together, and the challenges during this time of COVID-19.
“As we engage with other countries in this international event, we hope to learn from them as much as they [learn] from us,” Dadivas emphasized.
The city mayor also looks forward to build networks with other CALD countries in the spirit of international cooperation and collaboration against the threat of COVID-19.
Aside from Dadivas, other participants of the webinar were Abdullah Azwar Anas, Regent of Banyuwangi, East Java Indonesia; Yi-Chun Lo, Deputy Director General of Taiwan Centers for Disease Control; Dae Yeon Cho, Chief Director of Smart City National Strategic Program; Blue Abaya, Secretary General of CALD; Christian Taaks, head of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Korea Office; and Jean De Castro, CEO of ESCA Inc./PN
