ROXAS City – This city started its vaccination program against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on March 19 at College of Saint John Roxas.
A total of 25 frontline healthcare workers were vaccinated.
“Sa pagpabakuna, indi lang kaugalingon ang maprotektahan ta. Maprotektahan man naton ang iban nga tawo,” said Dr. Noel Dorado, City Health Office (CHO) chief.
Healthcare frontliners, he pointed out, deal with lots of patients each day.
“Tanan nga klase sang tawo, so we really need protection. Pwede gid kita malatnan kag makalaton,” said Dorado. “Kon available ang vaccine magpabakuna gid kay ini para sa kaluwasan sang Roxas City kag sang aton pamilya.”
The CHO also had a vaccination simulation with representatives from the Department of Health, Philippine Red Cross and the city government to further fine-tune the vaccination program rollout.
The city government plans 15 vaccination sites all over the city.
“Let’s not be complacent. We need to be vigilant,” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.
He appealed to city residents to continue observing health protocols such as wearing of facemask and face shield, physical distancing and hand washing/sanitizing./PN
