Roxas City’s active COVID-19 cases back to double digits

ROXAS City – From zero cases in the past few weeks, cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in this city are now back to double digits.

As of June 25, the City Health Office logged 25 active cases of COVID-19 infection from eight barangays.

The barangays with active cases are Barangay Lanot (one), Baybay (three), Dayao (five), Milibili (5), VIII (four), Culasi (two), Dumolog (2), and Tiza (three).

All of the 25 active cases are local transmissions.

The two latest cases recorded on Saturday were close contacts of those who first tested positive for COVID-19.

The 25 active cases brought the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 6,279 wherein 6,051 have recovered and 203 have died.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.

Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell.

Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness.

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.

These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth./PN
