ROXAS City – The Lupong Tagapamayapa of Barangay Milibili was declared national champion in the component city category of the 2018 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards.
The awarding ceremony was held at The Heritage Hotel Manila in Pasay City on Friday.
Village chief and Lupong Tagapamayapa chairman Midelo Ocampo received a plaque and a check worth P300,000 intended for the development of the barangay lupon program.
Some Lupong Tagapamayapa members were also present.
“I learned during the awarding ceremony [Department of Interior and Local Government] Undersecretary Martin Diño that the government was able to save almost P3 billion because petty crimes are no longer directly filed in court,” Ocampo told Panay News.
Ocampo added that the possibility of institutionalizing the Lupon membership is “not farfetched” since the body’s effectiveness in resolving conflicts has proven effective.
