ROXAS City – Barangay Milibili has undergone an evaluation as it vies for the regional level of the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards.
The March 9 evaluation came after Barangay Milibili was adjudged as the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awardee for the component city category in February, thus qualifying for the regional level.
Village chief and Lupon chairman Midelo Ocampo said the evaluation committee was composed of representatives from various government offices – like the Regional Trial Court, the Department of Justice and the Police Regional Office 6, among others – and nongovernment organizations.
Last year, Barangay Milibili was declared the winner in the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards regional level and first runner-up in the national level.
“This year’s evaluation is stiffer because contending barangays from Negros Occidental under the component city category are now back due to the dissolution of the Negros Island Region,” Ocampo told Panay News.
Ocampo also stressed that a “strong Lupong Tagapamayapa helps decongest our lower courts with petty crimes,” thus “reducing the resources spent by the government.”/PN
