ROXAS City – The active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in this city are down to just 18 as of Nov. 15.
These cases are distributed in 12 barangays – Tiza (one), Punta Tabuc (one), Lawaan (four), Adlawan (one), San Jose (two), Milibili (one), Tanque (one), Barangay 3 (two), Mongpong (one), Sibaguan (two), Banica (one), Barangay 8 (one).
Roxas City has 47 villages.
Of the 18 remaining COVID-19 cases, 14 are local transmissions, three are healthcare workers and one a locally stranded individual.
People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.
These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth.
On Nov. 15, the city logged three additional cases of COVID-19 and 10 recovered cases.
Roxas City has a total 528 confirmed cases (cumulated since the pandemic started) of which 477 recovered and 33 died.
This November, the city recorded four days with zero or no additional COVID-19 cases. These were on Nov. 6, 9, 13, and 14.
“Kita nagalaum nga sa pag-ubay sang aton Mahal nga Diyos, mangin tayuyon na ang amat-amat nga pagnubo sang aton kaso,” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.
Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell.
Most people (about 80 percent) recover from the disease without needing special treatment, according to the World Health Organization.
Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness./PN
