ROXAS City – Cases of coronavirus disease 2019 in this city are increasing again.
The city has 310 active cases as of Aug. 30, data from the City Health Office (CHO) showed.
On Aug. 28, the city logged 30 new cases and on Aug. 29, 50 more.
What triggered the spike?
Some people have become complacent; they do not wear facemask, according to Roxas City COVID-19 command center executive director Ronald Amigo.
Facemask limits the spread of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Amigo urged the public to follow the minimum public health protocols that also include physical distancing and proper washing of hands.
Roxas City is under a general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions until Sept. 7.
But Amigo warned the city may revert to a stricter quarantine if COVID-19 cases continue to increase.
Meanwhile, of the city’s active cases, 249 are local cases, 44 are healthcare workers and 17 are frontliners.
The city’s recovered cases are now at 3,041 while its COVID deaths are 144./PN
