Roxas driver faces multiple homicide, physical injuries raps

ROXAS City – Charges of multiple homicides, physical injuries, and damage to properties have been filed against the 30-year-old driver of a pickup truck that crashed into three motorcycles on Arnaldo Boulevard, Barangay Baybay, in this city.

Jerex Diawara of Barangay Lawaan, Roxas City, who is currently under the custody of the city police, was officially charged by authorities yesterday, Dec. 11.

Allegedly inebriated, he was involved in a tragic incident on Sunday that resulted in the deaths of three individuals and severe injuries to two others.

The fatalities were Joshua Doronio, 18, of Barangay East Villaflores, Maayon, and driver of a black Honda; Justine Deneo Villariña, 16, of Barangay Chiquito, Panay, and driver of a white Honda; and Cedric Andrei Baes, 16, of Barangay Poblacion Tabuc, Panay, who was a passenger of Villariña. They were declared dead upon arriving at a hospital.

Meanwhile, Joshua Albert Lanado, 19, of Barangay Tanza Sur, Panay, and the driver of a Yamaha NMAX, along with his passenger Joshua Burata, 17, of Barangay Poblacion Tabuc, Panay, are currently receiving medical treatment at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital.

According to Roxas City Police, the victims were going toward the city proper when Diawara’s allegedly speeding pickup truck abruptly hit the motorcycles./PN
