ROXAS City – The Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) – Regional Project Coordination Office 6 is set to endorse to the national level the proposed upgrading of the abattoir here in Barangay Dinginan.

On May 20, in a meeting with the regional PRDP, the Roxas City Project Management and Implementing Unit, City Planning and Development Office, City Engineer’s Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Agriculture’s Office and the City Veterinarian Office presented the project plan as well as the feasibility study about the implementation of the proposed project.

“Kita nagalaum sa katumanan sini nga proyekto agud mailisan na ang daan kag mapanami man ang slaughterhouse nga madugay na naton guinahandum,” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.

The city’s current slaughterhouse is a category A abattoir.

The proposed upgraded slaughterhouse is hoped to secure an AA rating from the National Meat Inspection Service.

An A classification means meat from the slaughterhouse can be transported within the city only while an AA classification means the meat from it can be transported outside the city.

An AAA classification, on the other hand, means the meat from the slaughterhouse is safe enough to be shipped abroad./PN
