ROXAS City – The construction of a Double A standard abattoir in this capital city of Capiz province is expected to take off by 2024.
Roxas City mayor Ronnie Dadivas was recently in Quezon City to receive the Certificate of Eligibility for Funding during the launch of three big-ticket World Bank-funded projects.
The certificate was awarded by Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. And Hon. Ndiamé Diop, World Bank Country Director for Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
With Dadivas in receiving the certificate were City Councilor Gary Potato and Lorelei Piansay.
The city’s 30-year-old slaughterhouse in Barangay Dingginan is currently a Category A abattoir. Its upgrading is under the DA’s Philippine Rural Development Project Scale-Up Sub-Project.
An A classification means meat from the slaughterhouse can be transported within the city only, while an AA classification means meat from it can be transported outside the city.
An AAA classification, on the other hand, means the meat from the slaughterhouse is safe enough to be shipped abroad./PN
