ROXAS City – A simultaneous clean-up drive is set to take place in all 47 barangays across Roxas City this coming Saturday, Jan. 20.
The initiative stems from the recently held Health and Dengue Awareness Forum, attended by barangay captains spearheaded by Liga President Roberto Ross Roldan, Sangguniang Kabataan chairpersons led by Federation President Martin Antonio Pimentel Jr., and City Department of Interior and Local Government officer Ginno Salamanca.
The clean-up primarily aims to search for and destroy mosquito breeding places as one of the measures against dengue.
Other measures included securing protection from mosquito bites, saying yes to fogging in areas with clusters of cases, and seeking early consultation when symptoms manifest.
The most common symptoms are high fever, headache, body aches, nausea, and rash.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said the city, as well as the entire Capiz province, in recent months, has logged a noticeable increase in dengue cases, as reported by the City and Provincial Health Office during the forum.
According to the Dengue Case Bulletin released on Jan. 4 by the Capiz Provincial Health Office, Roxas City recorded 261 cases of the disease.
“Aton ginaganyat ang publiko nga makigbahin sini nga inisyatibo agud matapna ang pagdamo pa sang biktima sang dengue,” Dadivas encouraged the public to join the clean-up drive./PN
