MANILA – The Russian Pacific Fleet with its three ships docked in Manila to bolster naval cooperation with Filipino navies.
Russian head of mission Captain Sergey Alantiev said the main objective of Monday’s visit was “to enhance our naval cooperation.”
The Russian port call includes drills on navigation and communication trainings from the quick response forces of the Philippines.
Alantiev said the mission served as “clear evidence” to the implementation of bilateral agreements between the two governments.
“Such port calls contribute to peace and stability in the Asia Pacific Region,” the captain said. “Only by combining our resources and efforts can we cope with present-day threats and challenges.”
Captain Constancio Arturo Reyes Jr. said this will enhance “peace, stability and maritime cooperation.”
