ILOILO City – This year’s edition of the Dinagyang Festival brings back the “Sadsad sa Calle Real” that will allow spectators to watch, mingle and have their pictures taken with participating tribes.

These five barangay tribes that will showcase their vibrant cultural performances as they dance and parade along Calle Real, one of the city’s iconic streets, on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 28, are the following:

* Tribu Aninipay (manager: Rainier Carado / choreographer: Lonelle Robles Carado)

* Tribu Ibata sang Paghiliugyon (manager: Joebert Intrepido / choreographer: John Paul Patrimonio)

* Tribu Molave (manager: Jaimer Canlas / choreographer: Ross John Peconcillo)

* Tribu Panaad (manager: Melvin Villanueva / choreographer: Oscar Vijuan)

* Tribu Parianon (manager: Rey Vincent Jaena / choreographer: Alfred Joseph Muya)

The Iloilo City Government and the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI) invite locals and tourists alike to witness and join the Sadsad sa Calle Real that will kickoff at 3 p.m.

“Step into the rhythm of tradition at the Sadsad sa Calle Real. This free event welcomes everyone to dance and celebrate alongside the tribes, immersing ourselves in the vibrant spirit of the Dinagyang Festival,” said Mayor Jerry Treñas.

For her part, Joyce Clavecillas, executive director of IFFI, highlighted that this event aims to promote communal enjoyment, where people can dance, join the tribes, or simply revel in the festivities.

She likened it to the traditional merrymaking that used to take place on Sunday afternoons where people gathered to dance in the downtown area, fostering a sense of togetherness and celebration.

The Sadsad sa Calle Real will commence at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand, proceed to Sunburst Park, JM Basa and Iznart streets, Iloilo Provincial Capitol, and culminate back at the Freedom Grandstand./PN
