Sagging wires public hazards; task force ‘Alambre’ revived

ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas reconstituted Task Force “Alambre” to fix sagging, dangling and inactive electric wires, telephone and television cables that endanger pedestrians and motor vehicles.

Under Executive Order No. 145, Treñas himself would chair the task force with his executive assistant for power Engineer Randy Pastolero as vice chairperson.

“There is a need for the re-bundling, fixing and tensioning in order to straighten and arrange the wirings so as not to obstruct and pose danger,” said Treñas, on top of them making  the city unkempt.

The task force members are Engineer Marcelino Umahag (City Engineer’s Office) and representatives of PLDT, Sky Cable, Globe Telecom, Cable Star, Bayan Telecommunication, MORE Electric and Power Corp., Telicphil, and Department of Public Works and Highways.

These are the body’s tasks:

* coordinate with respective utilities for the swift and proper implementation of the executive order

* retrieve inactive drop cables and wires

* re-fix and re-bundle wires and cables that are sagging, lying low and dangling

* propose and recommend to the Sangguniang Panlungsod a comprehensive plan involving all stakeholders for the outlining and laying out of posts and wiring within the territorial jurisdiction of Iloilo City/PN
