MANILA – Ilonggo guard John Bryan Sajonia is being considered for the 16-man roster of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws ahead of the UAAP men’s basketball action later this month.
The Pavia, Iloilo native was part of the Tamaraws’ 20-player pool that is preparing for the UAAP return, according to a report by Gametime: A Sports Podcast.
Sajonia, who stands a little over six-feet, was among the former FEU Baby Tamaraws players that he decided to pursue their collegiate career with the Tamaraws.
Prior to being recruited to the Baby Tamaraws in 2018, Sajonia was a former standout of the Sta. Clarita International School Primes where he was known for his scoring and defense.
Sajonia is a member of the Western Visayas secondary boys basketball team that finished runner up in the 2017 Palarong Pambansa in San Jose, Antique.
Meanwhile, Ilonggo Ralph Bajon will have to wait a year before starting his career with the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals in the NCAA men’s basketball.
The Iloilo City native, a teammate of Sajonia at the Primes before, has been ruled out from the final roster of the Generals after sustaining a knee injury.
“It is very unfortunate na nagkaroon ako ng injury sa tuhod while nasa training kaya hindi na ako makakahabol sa final lineup ng NCAA this season,” Bajon told Panay News on Tuesday.
“For me, it is very frustrating because almost two years din ako naghintay na makalaro sa EAC at sa NCAA but I will just work even harder para makasama sa next season,” he added.
Bajon earned a spot on Generals heas coach Oliver Bunyi’s team after joining the tryouts conducted by the EAC two years ago in Iloilo City./PN
