MANILA – San Beda University Lady Red Spikers completed the semifinals cast of the NCAA Season 95 women’s volleyball via a 25-19, 25-17, 25-19 sweep of Mapua University Lady Cardinals at the San Juan Arena.
Nieza Viray spearheaded the offense with 17 points to go along with 12 excellent digs.
The Lady Red Spikers (6-2 record) hardly broke a sweat while belting the Lady Cardinals.
San Beda captain Cesca Racraquin and Kim Manzano also made their contributions with the former hammering down all of her 12 points through attacks. The latter anchored above the net with four of her 11 markers coming from blocks.
“At least na secure na namin ‘yung Final Four. Kailangan namin mas maging hungrier pa kasi papalapit na ‘yung semis,” said Lady Red Spikers head coach Nemesio Gavino Jr.
He added: “Nakikita ko ‘yung mga bata talagang napupursigi. ‘Yung morale nila mataas tapos ‘yung maturity sa game nandiyan.”
On the other hand, Lorraine Barias and Mae Fernandez finished with seven markers each for the Lady Cardinals which fell down to the cellar with a dismal 1-7 slate.
In the other match, San Sebastian College-Recoletos Lady Stags carved out its second win by dispatching Lyceum of the Philippines University, 25-20, 25-18, 20-25, 25-16.
Shane Requierme and Reyann Canete spearheaded the Lady Stags with 14 points each./PN
